Club History
Established in the early 1980’s the Aurora Barnstormers R/C Club was founded when a young Fox Valley Park district sponsored clubs as a way to promote activities and programs with in their organization. The Fox Valley Park District in co-operation with the Kane County Forest Preserve provided the club with a place to fly by allowing the club to develop the flying site in what is now the Aurora West Forest Preserve. The club became an Academy of Model Aeronautics charter club and obtained charter number 1228. The partnership between the club, the park district and the forest preserve district lasted until the mid 2000’s when the Fox Valley Park District decided they would no longer sponsor any clubs. The club entered into a new agreement with the Kane County Forest giving them the continued use of the flying site at the Aurora West Forest Preserve. The Aurora Barnstormers R/C Club has thrived for more than 25 years and continues to welcome all types of model aviation activities.
