July 2009 - Aurora Barnstormers RC Club State of the Union

Meeting called to order 7:04 pm, Treasurers report was first; money on hand $2794.50. Error reported and corrected in check book with results more money on hand then originally thought. Treasurer continues to report the field mower is again late with invoice, none since August, for his services, Gary will call for invoice. There was a lengthy discussion about the web site, topics; web site security and should we have web site rules, email access and mass email to members, uploading to the site.

October Meeting of the Aurora Barnstormers RC Club Oct.2, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM
Treasurer report - $2213.00 left as of 10-2-08
Last month a suggestion was made to add a second pad lock to the gate at the field, the second lock would be for next years key that way members that paid early could use there new key.
A vote was taken not to add an extra lock and to leave the lock the same as it has been to keep confusion down.

A report was given by Gary about the fun fly that was held and he said that there were 6 members present and all had a good time.

Barnstormers September meeting:

As we enter the fall and winter season we want to remind the membership that the meetings are now at the Prisco Center, and that we will be meeting in a new room at the Prisco Center. All members should ask the person at the desk as you come in what is the room number for our meeting.

The turn out was less then at past meetings, I urge our membership to participate as the meeting can be very informative. They are a good place to ask questions and to see how some one else does it.

Our final fun fly of the year will be on Sunday September 21, 2008 at 11am at the Aurora Barnstormers flying field.

The detailed rules will be announced at the event and refreshments will be served.

The "There will be Carnage" funfly on Sunday 5/18 was a huge success if you consider a larger gallery than contestants successful. Fun was had by all (I hope).
The weather was anything but perfect but 5 contestants flew anyways.
The club provided sodas and prizes and Bob Olvia provided hot dogs and chips.

The 5 contestants were Joe Vancura, Bob Oliva, Joe Lipscier, Josh Frame and Gary Koester.

Unfortunately Joe Lepscier ripped out his landing gear during warm ups and was unable to fly. Nice landing Joe.

In the bomb drop and spot landing the standing was;

The first "There will be carnage" fun fly will be held Sunday May 18 at 11am at the Aurora Barnstormers flying field.

The events are;
1) A timed event of take off, do three loops and three rolls and a spot landing. The shortest time and shortest distance to the spot will determine the winner.
2) Bomb drop and spot landing. The shortest distance to the spot on each determine the winner.
3) A timed event of 5 touch and goes with a roll inbetween and land. The shortest time wins.

The detailed rules will be announced at the event.

Welcome to pre February meeting news letter, we will have several interesting items to discuss at the February meeting and look forward to seeing all our members at the meeting. Just to remind you the meeting is at 7:00 pm the first Thursday of February, the 7th, at the Prisco Center in Aurora. Dues are now due and must be paid by March 6th; the gate lock will be changed just before the March meeting. If you come to the February meeting we will be passing out new keys and membership cards to those that pay their dues.
