The Aurora Barnstormers R/C Club

Barnstormers September meeting:

As we enter the fall and winter season we want to remind the membership that the meetings are now at the Prisco Center, and that we will be meeting in a new room at the Prisco Center. All members should ask the person at the desk as you come in what is the room number for our meeting.

The turn out was less then at past meetings, I urge our membership to participate as the meeting can be very informative. They are a good place to ask questions and to see how some one else does it.

In past years members could go to either of the Hobbytown hobby stores and renew their membership. But the Hobbytown at Fox Valley (New York and Rt59) is closed. Members can still go to the Hobbytown in St Charles and renew their membership however Jack Ekstrom the only one at that location who can renew the membership, he only works two days a week, you should always call first to see if Jack is there.

Because of these changes and because renewal issues have been discussed several times in the past we decided at the last meeting that members can send there membership dues to the secretary as listed on the form (and has been done in the past). However members MUST come to a meeting to get their membership cards, get their new key, and to show their AMA card. No current AMA card, no key.

Because there is no meeting in January and because few members renew their AMA until January or later that leaves February and March to get the keys at a meeting before the lock is changed.

We did discuss having two locks on the gate 2008 and 2009 that would allow members to renew in Oct, Nov, and Dec.2008 that way members can renew and turn in their old and get a new key sooner. A decision on the two locks on the gate will be made at the next meeting. One thing to keep in mind we will NOT be mailing keys and membership cards, both must be picked up in person. If there is no way a member can attend a meeting then that member must contact one of the officers and make special arrangements to meet the officer at the officer’s convenience.

Because the attendance was low at the last meeting everyone received a prize in the drawing. I would like to say members stay away because I won a prize, BUT I will not say that, we want the members at the meetings so they can win.

Don’t forget there is a fun fly coming up, see the notice else ware on our web site. My hat is off to our two members who got our web page going Tim Archer and Kevin Ross and who keep it going.

One last item, we can (members) up load pictures of your airplanes to the web site, follow the instructions at the site. Tim will edit or delete any inappropriate photos just in case some one forgets what an airplane is.
If you have an airplane you are prod of bring it to a meeting we would love to see what you members are working on or like to fly.
